Teenage Cancer Trust

A life changing partnership

The DBF Trust endeavours to make a real difference to the lives of young adults in our community, who find themselves experiencing a life threatening and or emotional period in their lives. There's never a good time to get cancer but for a teenager the timing seems particularly cruel. Without the work of Teenage Cancer Trust, it's likely they would be treated alongside young children and elderly patients at the end of their lives. Teenage Cancer Trust develops specialist units within NHS hospitals that enable teenagers to be treated together, by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored for them.

Daisychain Benevolent Fund Trust has partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust to provide funding for developing such environments. The shops are a major part of this partnership providing awareness of the work of the TCT and generating vitals funds. Not only do our shops fund the development of the specialist wards but we also help fund a growing specialist team of Youth Support Coordinators, who provide one-to-one and group support, keeping patients active, encouraging them to socialise and keep connected with other young people during long stays in hospital.

We also help fund specialist nurses who are experts in teenage and young adult cancer. They are responsible for developing and providing excellent clinical care for young people as well as emotional support for them and their families.

Paediatric Care

Supporting Six Children's Wards across the West Midlands

One of our main aims at Daisychain Benevolent Fund Trust is to help young lives near their home, where possible.  We spend a significant portion of our resources on tackling this problem. Daisychain Benevolent Fund Trust funds vital projects and the purchase of much needed equipment within each local Children’s Hospital Ward or

local Community Hospital Facility for Children, located near to our shops. These include:

  • The Cheethams Children's Ward at the Royal Stoke University Hospital

  • The Children's Ward at the Queens Hospital, Burton on Trent

  • The Battledown Children's Ward at the Cheltenham General

  • The Derbyshire Children's Hospital at the Royal Derby Hospital

  • The Riverbank Children's Ward at Worcestershire Royal Hospital

  • The Children's Ward at Hereford County Hospital.
